Groups of all sizes and types are discovering the advantage of utilizing the Cedar City area as their home base for meetings and tour groups.   Located in the southwestern portion of the state, the area enjoys moderate four season climate with an average of 310 days of sunshine every year.   National parks like Zion, Cedar Breaks, Kolob Canyons, and Bryce Canyon are nearby plus great cultural activities like the Utah Shakespearean Festival and the Neil Simon Festival and don’t forget skiing and mountain biking at Brian Head.  These activities enable meeting participants to build a vacation around their business trip.   

Several convention and conference facilities are located in the heart of Cedar City, including the Haze Hunter, the Sharwan Smith Convention Center and the Cedar City Festival Hall.  The Cross Hollows Events Center is perfect for outdoor events and shows. Several hotels have small meeting rooms for corporate retreats

Parowan is the perfect town to host family reunions and equestrian groups with the facilities at the Iron County Fairgrounds.  Brian Head also is a high elevation destination for family groups and small retreats with its ample supply of family friendly condos and small meeting facilities and pavilions.

Getting here is easy.  Located along Interstate 15, the Cedar City area is within an easy drive of the major populous areas of the west.  Las Vegas is less than three hours to the south and Salt Lake City is only four hours to the north.  Daily air service is also available with US Airways Express.

Tour Groups

Cedar City is the original starting point for the popular tour itinerary known as the “Grand Circle” which takes in the major national parks of the southwest Utah, plus Cedar Breaks National Monument and Grand Canyon North Rim.  Tour companies love the centralized location of Cedar City and the willingness of local businesses to assist them with dining, lodging and activity options.    

The American Bus Association (ABA) recently rated Cedar City’s Utah Shakespearean Festival as one of their “2008 Top 100 Events to Experience by Motorcoach”.  With over 1,200 lodging units, 80 restaurants, a historic downtown and an eclectic mix of activities and quality entertainment options, it’s easy to see why tour groups prefer to stay in Cedar City.
